Nelson Mandela

News has arrived of the death of Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela at the age of 95, 23 years after he emerged from 27 years of political captivity.

“And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
― Nelson Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom

“The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall”

Let us remember this great statesperson and freedom fighter and follow his example, with strength and resolve to commit to the struggle for freedom and justice for all. His goal of a democratic, non-racial society where everyone has a stake in the democracy was realised in South Africa and there was a peaceful transition. But now let us work for development for all who were denied economic as well as political rights under apartheid.

“A fundamental concern for others in our individual and community lives would go a long way in making the world the better place we so passionately dreamt of.”
