Human Rights Day

On 10 December each year, the United Nations marks Human Rights Day, the day on which the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was signed in 1948. It pays tribute to all who defend and work to promote human rights, and asks people to get involved in the global human rights movement.

This has been an incredible year for people who have demanding change and freedom, and an end to human rights abuses. Think of those who have had the courage to stand up for human rights around the world.

As you write your Christmas cards, why not mark Human Rights Day by sending a card to a prisoner of conscience, joining in Amnesty International’s Christmas card campaign ‘Write to Rights’?
